The darknet is todays IRC. If you want something - just look for it on the darknet. Law enforcement's newest technological challenge. However, just look at the success of Silk Road and see if they can hide forever.

Wow, truly fascinating about a subject that I'm not too familiar with. It's amazing that people can look up these nefarious items so easily. Obviously, I can understand people looking up marijuana on these encrypted networks, but the social security numbers and fake passports was a bit disturbing. It seems like it is a good facilitator for criminal activity

I think no matter how many times law enforcement tries to curb aspects of the modern darknet, the hydra effect will prevent this. To me this is economics enabled by technology. As long as there is a demand for illicit goods and services, there will always be those willing to risk punishment to provide those goods and services. Cyberspace also enables these vendors a degree of anonymity and reduced chances of being physically apprehended.

The bad guys will always take advantage of any technology possible. It's not surprising that they use the darknet criminal businesses. It's sad that the darknet has such a bad rap because it could be useful to keep your online activity private from advertisers.

Just slightly playing devil’s advocate here: I think The Darknet is awesome, especially for someone wanting to go into law enforcement! I had never heard about so much detail behind these private networks until watching this video and it was very shocking to me how easily accessible a number of illegal things are. But, that just means that there are more jobs for those like myself interested in catching people using and abusing the web. The darknet is not going to slow down, as more people become educated in different operating systems I feel more jobs will be created for those people interested in cybercrime investigations. This could possibly bring about very fulfilling jobs in which you won’t see a large deal of redundancy. I think it is pretty funny the creator of the video mentions “TOR is a great tool to exercise freedom of speech.” Why not just go on a site like YouTube, and exercise freedom of speech? Why go on a network with a reputation of illegal and shady activity in order to do such?
