I'm glad that the military is focusing on cybersecurity and is investing a great deal of time and money to train its employees in this field. The video seems kind of promotional though, and doesn't really address the fact that the US seems to be behind in this field compared to other nations, particularly Russia and China. In addition, it doesn't really grasp the potential ramifications that cyberwarfare can have. Is it a good idea to conduct cyberwarfare when it is not hard for other nations to retaliate? As a promotional video, however, I think it serves its purpose. It looks like the school is teaching some very valuable information!

I agree with all your comments @kkrishna. To answer your question, I don't think it's a good idea to conduct cyberwarfare when it is not hard for the other nations to retaliate. This can open up a can of worms that a nation is not prepared for, so I think the pros and cons should be carefully weighed before deciding to initiate a cyber war.

This seems like a really cool program. I wonder if the other military branches have similar programs. If not, they definitely should. It will be exciting to see what grows out of this program. I imagine having this specialization will also atract more technology-focused recruits. I wonder if one day we will have a whole new branch of military just for cyber.

It is critical to have a select elite cadre of trained soldiers and analysts who can deal with all things cyber - especially involving cyber attacks by nation states.

Interesting video (and viewer comments). I agree with a lot of the posts that the video serves several purposes, one of which is probably recruiting. I inferred that the training was more of a defensive nature; one of the technical aspects that was mentioned was that of vulnerability assessments. The offensive nature of the 39th IOS training was not mentioned; but I didn`t think it would be. Inform your enemies of your tactics and positioning ? Not a good idea. I am heartened that there is a recognition of the need for advanced technical training and a commitment of resources to meet the challenge of the cyber world.
