rburkettat February 05,2016 I learned something new with this video. I had no idea this type of crime existed. I think it is great that they can use technology, instead of a human, to crack down on this type of activity. I'm also surprised by the social engineering used to gain information, but it's a smart way to get information legally. My fear with the petition and the notoriety of Sweetie on the Internet, is that it will draw more predators to this type of crime, only now they know to avoid anyone that doesn't look totally realistic.
haneenat February 15,2016 Woow this is awful, how could they do this for little children I don't get it, it's just doesn't make any sense.
Besides this great job in catching those rapers through this wonderful technology. I really think that it's not limited to apply it, after it happens, there must be more attention from these kids parents to their kids, and there must be educational courses for parents in the developing countries to introduce them to these risks of having new technology and its impact on their children.
Make more of sweetie so you can collect more of those horrible men. .
fpazdzinat February 16,2016 Even though this video was hard to watch I think it is one of my favorite ones from this site. I feel very strongly about anything that involves the abuse of children. Having something like this to help stop these child predators is something that I would support 100%. It’s great to see that people are using this kind of technology to catch these types of criminals. Identifying 1,000 child predators in 2 months by just a single company in the Netherlands is amazing. Just imagine what this program could do if different companies, agencies, and governments from around the world started implementing it.
tcmahonyat February 17,2016 The fact that they were able to identify 1000 people in one month reinforces that fact that humans are the weakest point when it comes to security and why we are often the initial attack vector in cyber crimes. While law enforcement agencies like the FBI and Interpol probably do follow up on the information gathered by this group, what is the legality behind it. Are they crossing the line with their virtual girl. I am all for what they are trying to accomplish but feel that this should be handled by the appropriate law enforcement agencies as opposed to a private company. They could almost be looked at like cyber vigilantes even though I think they should keep doing this activity to catch these predators.
nickat March 08,2016 This video is a quintessential example of the complete thrill of being a white hat. While there are many types of white hats such as penetration testers, cyber threat analysts, crimeware hunters and those that target pedophiles, all love the excitement of the chase and goal to stand up for what is right. The video stirs up strong emotions for anyone that believes in the use of technology to protect and safeguard the weak or vulnerable. While many videos in this series describe the criminal side of the Internet, its refreshing to see that technology can be employed in a moral, legal way that supports a civil society. Technically, it is amazing what can be created to mitigate these repulsive actors. Hopefully this approach can be deployed in a more scalable manner to maximize its benefits.
