I tried BackTrack in a class a couple of years ago. I see form some of the posters that https://www.kali.org/ has replaced (supplanted ?) BT. I went to their site and clicked on the Kali Linux Forensics Mode tab. A couple of interesting notes from the site about using Kali Linus in the Forensic Mode : the internal hard disk is never touched AND auto-mounting of removable media is disabled. This keeps the "deadbox" acquisition "pure". And another thing that I noticed is that the tools are open sourced.

Backtrack a very good OS for Information gathering and Penetration Testing and now Kali has taken it a notch higher. Great OS for penetration testers.

428Mach1 makes a good point ,it seems Kali Linux 2.0 has become the tool of choice for penetration testing. https://www.kali.org. Backtrack seems to be an amazing tool for offensive security, but in order to stay one step ahead of today's cyber criminals, new and exciting tools suck as Kali 2.0 will always be in demand.

It appears that this program or application is connected with many applications and programs. It is too hard for me to catch the step involved because they are too many and hard to remember all. Just looking at tutorial, I know it is great a program but too hard to understand. First you will have to understand the GUI the transformation of phone numbers etc. It touches a little bit of routing protocol, then penetration testing, finding relationships and much more. I wish I know how to operate it

BackTrack gathers lots of powerful security tools and is an awesome Linux-based security test platform. As others said, it was substituted by Kali Linux in 2013. And now there are some other similar penetration testing system, such as parrot security OS and Caine. They can be used do the same thing like the video shows.
