Beggsseat September 17,2015 Interesting, the need for confidentiality for the business when hackers are successful. While criminals are caught and sentenced the use of publicity as a behavioral deterrent for future hackers isn't available. This method of combating and arresting hackers probably leads to the feeling many of us have as to our cyber safety. As long as the rewards average such a significant amount, as mentioned at $1.3 M per heist, the incentive and likelihood of anonymity require a different type of investigation far from the media.
hhoang5at September 17,2015 This is an interesting video about the financial impact that cybercriminals can cause. They can steal a huge amount of money using only a computer, and corporations often do not want to reveal that they were attacked due to the reputation. The hacking of Target and Home Depot database recently shows just how big the financial impact of cyberattacks can be, and how hard it is to find the culprits.
Faisal817at September 17,2015 This is an awesome video it tells you that doesn't matter how secure is your company, the hacker will definitely find a gap to steal the information he wants. Moreover, In my opinion why don't we use this hacker in some useful places in the government. For instance, why don't we learn from him how he got access to all that data and what kind of technology did he use instead of putting him in prison for 20 years.
sliu23at September 22,2015 The economy develops more and more dependency on the information system and internet. This dependency would make the cyber-crime become much more threatening than it used to be, which lead the company make more investment on the defense and protection of their data and information. However, the huger the system is developed, the more vulnerable it may become. Like what the video shows us, it would lead to enormous amount users involve in the crime. If the attack or crime is unavoidable, the victim should figure out who did it and how to find him/her out. The forensics technique should be the key point to do this work. In fact, not all the vulnerabilities in the financial system could be solved to prevent all the potential cyber-crime. However, if we could catch as much as possible criminals, the risk, which the financial company and organization confront with, would be relatively minimized.
sagarwa9at September 24,2015 This video gives rise to a very important question - how safe is the credit card information over the internet?
Websites claim that such information is stored in an encrypted way and the card companies say that they follow PCI DSS, but still frauds like this happen. Clearly we need more safer environment to store credit card information and to prevent such frauds.
