An opening video about the security threats that are connected to a smartphone. As much as smartphones can be used to make things easier for us, they posses an equal probability (if not more) to harm us.
We should be more careful about what the apps are forcing us to do and share with them.

Sometimes I find myself not worrying about my phone security nearly as much as my PC. I don't know why I still feel like the phones are so much more secure than they really probably are--considering how much we use them/rely on them it is no surprise that people have found a way to compromise their security/privacy. Short video but a great reminder to be more aware of our phones and what we are doing (or lack thereof) to keep them secure.

Smart phone is kind of computer connecting us to the internet. More and more may use the smart phone as the only way access the internet and related service. That’s why the demand of smart phone application developers keeps increasing all the time. Any kind of operation system has exploit, not to mention android and iOS used in the smart phone. The more users for an operation system increased, the more hackers would be attracted. Not all the bug and vulnerabilities in smart phone could be fixed up in time; and there are numbers of 0-day exploits known by hackers. Therefore, cyber-crime in smart phone could grow in intensity. By the way, people almost take the smart phone all the time and everywhere, which means a comprised smart phone may leak much more information than PC.

That's why i think million times before opening anything may considered weird on my smart phone. A real example that happen to me last month is i received an email from Louis Vuitton saying that thanks for ordering from us and the email was clear and nothing with it. Moreover it looks like the original official email that comes from the company. So i scrolled down and i saw at the end a sentence says "click on the attached doc to see you tracking number". Here i realized that something wrong is going on because firstly i didn't order anything from them and secondly no one will attache the tracking number on a file, so its probably a malicious activity on me. So I deleted it quickly and took a lesson of not opening anything unusual.

Security threats probably isn’t something someone generally thinks about when using their smartphone, I know I don’t. But, I completely understand the risk I’m taking by using one, the same risk that come with using a computer. Using any form of technology in general is risky, especially with the invention of the Cloud where things can be accessed literally anywhere. I think as things become more convenient to us, the more relaxed we become in regards to securing our information. I have heard of apps that can save all of your passwords in one spot, something about that doesn’t sound secure. I agree with the video we have to remain aware that there are threats out there and not just click on anything.
