The amount of Malware just being made daily is crazy. It just shows the stats around why our field is needed for the safety of other organizations.

Ted killed it! And the way he presented it was not very technical at all and I really do believe that what he got across to people made them more aware at how simple it is for them to be vulnerable to attacks, and if he hadn't when he first began, he definitely did when he got to the topic of Wi-Fi and Starbucks! I'm sure my wife has been hacked plenty of times being that she will NEVER let me touch her phone and she's always at Starbucks!

Yet another fascinating TED talk reminding us how using technology every day makes us trade the convenience for the privacy if simple basic steps to protect ourselves are not being taken. It was also very interesting to see how the same hackers trying to take advantage of their victims can become vulnerable themselves through the use of technology and investigative tools.

This is a message I've been preaching for years now. Security of a system is only as good as the lowest common denominator...and that usually boils down to an individual that doesn't know or doesn't care about the security implications of getting compromised. As we become more and more connected we have to assume that we are all using one homogeneous system and that keeping ourselves secure is not necessarily enough. We must instead rely on the practices of others to keep us secure (kind of a "herd" mentality) and continue to educate as much as possible. When it comes down to it though....the general public just doesn't care and I don't see that changing in our lifetime.

This is actually my first TED talk and I am glad it was. Very informative and I totally agree with the idea that we trade conveninece for privacy. As we connect to the internet every day, we are vulnerable to all the risks. Its extremely important to stay informed of the risks and also take the precautions to protect our information. This was definitely an eye opener.
