A very accessible and entertaining talk about the cybercrime that can affect people everyday. I think talks like this are important to educate the general population and drive home the point that it's not all large scale hacks of businesses or government. Cybercrime happens to ordinary individual everyday.
This type of education is necessary to secure systems. All it takes is one person not taking security seriously to unintentionally allow a system to be compromised.

One of the best cyber security videos for the 'end user' I have seen. The demonstration that shows examples of products and services available to the cyber criminal was shocking. The biggest issue involves the legal challenges - how can these crooks get away with this when they hide in countries that have no desire to prosecute? The video also emphasized the importance of cyber security best practices: update systems, install security patches and follow appropriate password rules.

While the information provided was interesting, scary and very new to me, I wonder the extent of the law enforcement efforts to not only catch the criminals, but to prosecute and "crack-down" on their actions. The legal attitude of international disagreement and jurisdictional issues will only go on for so long, until something tips the balance toward action. Clearly, the bold and blatant tactics by the cyber criminals to increase their business with advertisements and applications really challenges the traditional view of who really is doing all the hacking. Very informative and interesting video.

Cyber criminals these days are professional and organised and people don't even take the basic security steps to protect themselves. An alarming video urging to have stronger international cyber laws.

Did he ever say what happened to that group of cybercriminals that were physically caught? Perhaps I missed that. But, this was a great video tying into a module we focused on regarding Exif data! How embarrassing is that, to be someone who makes such a great deal of money to get caught in a fairly simple manner. This was a great TED talk because of the numbers he pulled and details about the audiences personal information really helped put things into perspective. But, it makes you wonder, what can actually be done to combat this issue? Do we not sign onto public wi-fi in Starbucks and hotels? Do we not upload any images of ourselves on the internet? I mean I get where he’s coming from but realistically everyone is at risk by simply using technology and that’s not something that can be prevented in this day and age.
