pneyzariat March 16,2017 So I'd imagine that these devices are easily purchased through the dark web/black market? It seems like the most simple thing with little to no complexities -- get yourself a computer, the right software, two little devices, a safe room for the time being, and you're on your way to be a thief. Until you get busted, of course. Or even if you don't get busted in a good while, like the man in the video, it's an up keeping of stress and constantly thinking on your toes, all for the sake of easy money. Evidently, the rush of getting hands on some good cash (whether or not it is enough/worth the hassle, as other commenters have noted) isn't going to stop a good number of criminals out there from doing what they do.
jahmadat March 26,2017 I've always been cautious of these card skimmers, especially when going to ATM's. One thing I do to guard against it is make sure its an ATM in a busy area I'm using and use a wallet designed to guard against skimming. I think the integration of chips in credit cards now helps a lot in preventing card theft. I believe as a safeguard everyone should purchase some sort of identity theft insurance.
echukalovat March 29,2017 Wow, this crook has been doing it for 17 years and haven't been caught yet? I can only imagine how much money he stole in total. Skimming devices are getting more and more sophisticated, and hard to spot. I've heard of certain skimmers that can transmit the card numbers wirelessly, so the thief doesn't even need to go back and retrieve the device, after it is installed on an ATM or POS terminal. Usually every criminal makes mistakes eventually, thats when they get caught.
shubhraguptaat April 02,2017 Very informative and scary video. How easily credit card information is stolen with the help of a simple software. Obtaining credit card information is very easy nowadays as all the transactions are carried out with the help of credit cards these days. There is good probability that hackers target these kind of theft. Without harming the victim, the attacker is posing so much threat and does damage to him.
ftj258at April 05,2017 It was a good watch. Very informative. But these is not new. How many times by now have we had to cancel cards because it unauthorized purchases were made. This is even scarier for people who do not look at their bank statements. I can be guilty of that crime sometimes. When I am in a hurry I just pay my bills without going through the whole statement. Of course, it is easy to notice a big purchase like the one made in the video, but what about little transactions like gas station charges or little grocery purchases specially from where I usually make purchases.
The most scary thing about this whole video is not how easily it can be done but for how long he did it without being caught: 17 years. Guess how many cards he hacked.
