This video is a very well-done depiction of what Silk Road was and just how fast a black market grows. I had not heard of this case. I like the way the narrator lays out the forensic facts so you can follow the analysis as it unfolded. The use of Tor to hide from the FBI is clever but the FBI was still able to piece together other artifacts and was able to takeSilk Road down. Not so fortunate is the fact that 5 new competitors are out there ready to fill the void for the cyber black market world.

The video introduces the Silk Road, which is the world largest online black market. The purpose of The Silk Road is to create an online criminal marketplace outside the reach of law enforcement or government regulation. Illegal drugs, illegal services, full access to social networks, digital goods and forgeries are things that you can get from the Silk Road. The onion router or tor is the technique that the Silk Road can hide. The video becomes more interesting when it shows how the FBI investigates the Silk Road and they clean it up. However, there will be another Silk Road because the criminal is still. Therefore, the hunt will continue.

This video gives a very good introduction to the beginnings of the Silk Road. Recently on cable I watch the video (The Deep Web movie is about the Silk Road Trial (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deep_Web_(film)), It showed up on the EPIX cable channel. This was the aftermath of when the suspect was apprehended. According to the man caught, he was the original DPR but had subsequently given it up and another person was acting in that capacity. If anyone gets the chance to watch the documentary of the trial, its a very good story.

Decent summary of the Silk Road case. Hopefully the future of cyber crime investigation can gain deeper more effective tools and methods, so that criminal activity can be stopped with out relying on their mistakes to do so.

Decent rundown of the timeline and the information behind the website. I've watched and read other breakdowns and documentaries and it is interesting to note that the Dread Pirate Roberts in the film "The Princess Bride" was not a single person, but a title passed from one to another. It is been said numerous times that Ross Ulbricht, the man convicted for being DPR, was not likely the man behind the murder for hire, or some of the more illicit activities, but rather an idealist who was only one of many users of the DPR account.
