DEF CON 18 - Jackpotting Automated Teller Machines Redux
Beggsseat November 28,2015 Gathering information takes many forms and this video highlighted what is involved in working with cats and dogs. While I'm not familiar with the technologies used, I can relate to the importance of trial and error in discovery. Continuing to push the envelope and learn new things is what DefCon is all about. I personally loved how he learned over time that it was best to send the cat out fitted with a tech-less version of the device to see if the cat would come back. His results from both experiments show how data can be gathered and manipulated with humor injected based on technical capabilities.
sliu23at December 01,2015 The very humorous video brings me lots of fun. War Kitteh, using cat to do the war driving, is beyond my imagination. As the speaker said, it is very hard to work on the cat though he succeeded in the end. The cat’s route is quite irregular, which we can see from the video; and its scope of activities is also limited. Nevertheless, we should notice that doing war driving today is quite easy and its devices could be quite small. The second part he showed the DoS dog. Although the dog carried so many devices, no one would become suspicious on it. Our negligence is still the biggest threaten to the security. Quote from the video: Still no patch for human stupidity.
aholcom2at December 03,2015 This was a very humorous and fun video to watch. I thought the War Kitteh was a pretty cool idea and it was neat that he was able to build and create the collar all by himself. The Denial of Service Dog was a funny idea and shows that most people won’t question suspicious things such as a “Denial of Service Dog.” The stories he told when taking the dog around were also really funny and cool to do.
jhilldog77at December 03,2015 Entertaining video for sure; was cool to see the tech used for Wi-Fi sniffing and GPS geo-location. Within a few months the presenter was able to go from zero knowledge to deploying his own trolling devices on some family pets-cool!
sagarwa9at December 09,2015 Really great video demonstrated in a funny way to learn new technology. Makes me want to go to Def Con
