It took a while to get to the point, but it was still informative. This past summer I did security research on 4G LTE, so it was cool to see some of the concepts I learned come back up again. It would be cool to see a similar video on intercepting communication in the newer architectures especially because it's a lot harder than it was with GSM.

The popularity of cell phones, especially smartphones, is immense. I venture to say if most users were educated of signal vulnerabilities a majority would still utilize the technology. The mobility and utility of said technology is convenient for most users to do without.

I thought that it was interesting that cellphone encryption in India is illegal- I had no idea. I find it highly shocking that cell phone companies don’t notify the user when they are connecting to towers that force them to be in an unencrypted state. That the presenter suggested that cell phone companies make it so that the user is not notified in changes in encryption status so that users do not call with complaints is an interesting hypothesis. I wonder if cyber crime and security in information systems will become a primary concern of everyday users that they will demand notification from cell phone companies.
