Mobile forensics is really seeping into industries as the penetration of smartphones has increased a lot in the corporate environments especially with BYOD. Mobile Device Management is another tool that can be used in malicious way if it gets into wrong hands. Forensics in terms of smartphones is bit more complex due to wide array of devices that have flooded the market in the last decade. The tools discussed here are good for people starting into mobile forensics.

When he was talking about the Android forensic, AFLogical, I thought it was really interesting that they built a way to talk to SD card like a server. Forensically, this is an amazing tool to be able to talk to SD card but not leave a large footprint on the device itself. Instead it works more fluidly and the analyst can kind of play a game of operation, by pulling out the select items they request. Mobile device forensics has become the next big thing but its great that there are communities built with opensource and sharing mindsets to help debunk the mysteries of mobile device forensics. Considering there are some many devices out there and so many different physical containers/machinery, its great to see tools tackle this issue.

The video goes to show just how vulnerable smartphones can be to cyber-attacks. Considering most people take their phones with them almost everywhere, the potential for espionage and financial damage is very serious. However, the user can prevent some mobile device attacks by simply being cautious about what they download. Some install apps without reading the permissions cautiously. A lot of attacks on mobile devices recently have been due to users installing specific apps via unofficial streams, specifically jailbreaking.

The android phones are having lots of vulnerabilities, but the iphones storage is little complex. Iphone creates multiple copies of files and have lots of backup files in phone, icloud and itunes. We can lot's of information from other sources.
One of the research showed that the iphone stores the location information about the user. This can be used to find the location of the device user at any point of time.

The results of the analysis of the apps security was a little surprising. People assume apps are more secure when they download them. This is a good reason to buy them from the official App Store.
