Chinese Hacker Profiles

It is a well-established fact that elements of the Chinese government infiltrated United States Government (USG), Defense Industrial Base (DIB), and corporate networks since the 1990s. It is almost laughable at this point that the Chinese Government continues to deny their involvement in this activity and blame the West for some "conspiracy". All you need to do is look some of the recent editions to the Chinese military inventory. Their fighter looks a lot like the US F-35. It cost the USG billions of dollars to research and build the F-35. The Chinese “allegedly” extracted Terabytes of data from the Contract Companies that built the F-35, thus saving years, money, and resources to build a fighter jet on an equal footing as the F-35. Also of note, in May of 2014, the USG indicted five Chinese PLA members for hacking into the USG. This move is likely more symbolic because the Chinese government will never turn over the suspects. Finally, is also worth noting, that the Chinese military is purported to have over a hundred thousand hackers (what exactly are they doing?), the US military has less than 10,000. I would say we are behind, and any hostilities with the Chinese would likely involve cyberspace attacks, and I don’t know how well the USG would fair.

While I don’t disagree with you about the Chinese government’s involvement in some of the attacks that have made the news, I don’t think you can compare the number of people in a country’s military labeled “hackers”, and make a determination as to which country is better prepared. While I thought the video was interesting, I do think it was a bit sensationalized in that the reporter was throwing around the terms war, attacker, casualties, army, etc. I also didn’t like that the video report doesn’t really let Juan speak through his interpreter, but appears to have the reporter paraphrasing what the interpreter stated. He claims he is a godfather and trains the underground hackers in his country, but then doesn’t know anyone who launches attacks. I’m not sure how the reporter found that to be credible. I also find it interesting that he claims there is no evidence anyone in his country is attacking the U.S. or other countries rather than denying it occurs.

After watching this video, I can't very well agree that China isn't behind any of the cyber attacks against Americas' infrastructure or any other country for that matter. And even if they aren't, I don't think they are doing anything to effectively stop it in addition to indirectly hiring or paying these hackers for carrying out attacks on targets on interest. With Chinese governments claim that they are not behind any attacks against America and that they are being blamed for attacks carried out by nationalists and individual hackers for their own personal benefits is directly compared to the person who throws a rock through a glass window then turns and acts like he is shocked and surprised as everyone else is when the question is raised on who did it!

I sense that this video give us a new idea that cyber-war is not just from government to government, but people against government. There are many free software out there that guys could use to hack computer systems. Governments have to improve their tools and prepare their security departments against this new threats.

In my opinion, the video discusses the Chinese hackers attacking the US government from the US perspective. I read people's comments carefully, and most of them stands for the US sides, and one of the main issue is whether the Chinese government know about hackers attacking the US government. I want to speak several words for the Chinese government. The video said Chinese government deny that they were involved in the activity, and Yes, the government did deny it. However, the US government pressured on the Chinese government. The question raised, if the Chinese government were really behind those hackers, can the US government present evidence? At least I did not read it from the video. In addition, the US government monitor other countries’ governments, organizations, corporations, and universities. I know people, who were in charge of the monitoring in China, were detected these years. Therefore, I do not think the US had the right to blame other countries. I did not mean to say which side is right, and all I would like to say is that to check self and have the objective evidence before taking actions.
